A clear frontrunner has emerged to replace House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to lead the Democratic caucus after her departure.
Although it's unclear, speculation is increasingly rampant that Pelosi will be pressured by members of her own caucus to retire if Republicans seize control of the House.
Pelosi's heir apparent, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., isn't a household name yet. That seems destined to change soon.
The Daily Caller reports:
House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn of South Carolina and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York, who chairs the House Democratic Caucus, met up at Clyburn's office during the summer congressional recess,ย according to the outlet.
Jeffries became aware of a โquiet campaignโ from California Rep. Adam Schiff for the speakership, inspiring the New York congressman to fly out to California and speak with Clyburn. At the meeting, Clyburn reportedly expressed his full support for Jeffries' bid.
โThere's nothing I would ever do to impede the progress of our up-and-coming young Democrats, and I see him as an up-and-coming young Democrat,โ Clyburn said of Jeffries, according to Politico. โHe knows that, I didn't have to tell him that โ but I did.โ
Republicans are currently favored to win the House of Representatives,ย according to Five Thirty Eight, and areย expected to announceย leadership positions a week after the midterms. Minority Leaderย Kevin McCarthyย will likely take over Pelosi's position as speaker, leaving Jeffries with the post of minority leader.
Individuals close to Pelosi, 82, recently said she would want President Joe Biden to appoint her as the U.S. ambassador toย Italy.
President Biden has yet to name anyone for that role with multiple sources telling Fox Business that the president is keeping the position open for Pelosi.
RealClearPolitics currently projects Republicans will gain between 15 to 48 seats in the battle for the U.S. House of Representatives, with an average gain of 31.5 seats.

Yes and his name is Congressman Jim Jordan!!!!!!!
So Pelosi wants to be ambassador to Italy. I can’t help but get the feeling those Italians won’t put up with her crap. Des anyone remember what they did to Mussolini? Any younger people who don’t recall, they hung him by his feet in public and let him rot away. Pelosi starts giving them a bunch of the same crap we’ve had to put up from her that could be the results again.
Right, John! Consider an Italia run by Giorgia Meloni the consummate right-winger!
Checks several of the democrat criteria for leadership as a national socialist. He is of color and radical liberal. Only needs to identify a female who happens to be a lesbian/bi/tranny.
Schiff as speaker??? NO. he belongs in jail fro his treasonous actions.
could this be a conspiracy perpetrated by the cbc?
Pelosi should have been gone years ago. She’s made herself a multi-millionaire many times over since she first was elected to congress. Only by showering those people in her district with tons of government freebies has made her able to stay around so long.
Not Bozo The Clown??
