Is Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin experiencing buyer's remorse?
New reports indicate the Virginia governor is โreconsideringโ mounting a 2024 bid for the White House despite previously refuting such claims.
Republican donors are urging Youngkin to reconsider running as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to jump in the race Wednesday and former President Donald Trump continues to dominate in the polls,ย accordingย to Axios.
โHe's reconsidering,โ a source close to Youngkin told Axios. โHe'd be in his own lane: He's not never-Trump, and he's not Trump-light.โ
There are โserious discussions happening on re-engaging in the presidentialโ election, a GOP Virginia political expert told Axios. A presidential announcement wouldn't come from Youngkin until after the state's highly competitive legislative elections in November, which the governor is currently fundraising for, sources told Axios.
โIf the guy flips any seats at all, it's proof that his political machine is ready to go,โ an aide close to the governor told Axios.
The report is a stark turnaround from Youngkin's messaging earlier this month. (RELATED: Virginia Governor Responds To 2024 White House Speculation)
