The Republican National Committee (RNC) has released its criteria for candidates to qualify to participate in the second presidential debate.
RNC President Ronna McDaniel told Fox News on Tuesday that candidates need to register at 3 percent in two national polls and need to make a donor threshold of 50,000 unique donors by the second debate.
The second debate is set to be held on Sept. 27 in Simi Valley, Calif. at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
โWe should be stepping up the criteria. Once you get on the debate stage and you get in front of the American people, if you're not having momentum, if you're not showing growth in your campaign, then that's a problem,โ McDaniel said on Fox News in support of the second debate criteria.ย
McDaniel compared the second debate to the Olympics.
โAnd we need to make sure that we are putting in front of the Republican primary voters, the candidate who is going to take on Joe Biden,โ she continued. โAnd I say this all the time, you know, you don't go to the Olympics unless you pass the prelims, right? This is the Olympic stage of the Republican Party primary and there's going to be criteria that you have to meet to be on that stage.โ
According to Politico, candidates can also make the polling threshold by registering at a minimum of 3 percent in one national poll and 3 percent in two polls surveying voters in two early primary states, which include Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina.
Former President Trump and current Republican frontrunner has yet to commit to participating in the first debate.
So far, the candidatesย who have so far qualifiedย for the first GOP debate include former President Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.

Pathetically laughable, as far as I’m concerned. I have no desire to sit and watch a bunch of GOPe do-nothings debate each other over all kinds of issues besides what really counts. Trump is going to be our candidate when it’s all said and done. The GOPe do-nothings will do what they do best – make false promises while wasting taxpayer’s monies on another political dog, pony, and clown show.
Will RNC back candidate?
No DC Games
Adopt Dems plans for voting etc
Or LOSE
Every time I see Rona, she looks more and more like Flo from the Progressive commercials. Does she have a side hustle?
She might be more ‘Progressive’ than many suppose.
